Lovely Berkhamsted

As us and Derwent6 are now travelling on unfamiliar territory we didn't know what to expect when we were making our way to Berkhamsted. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the countryside was and the town of Berkhamsted was rather pretty. Al spotted Waitrose and that was it, we had to stop. There has been a lot of work done around here and it all centres round the canal. The station is right along side the canal as you can see in this picture. We decided to go for a walk and stumbled upon the castle and although the walls are just left standing it was quite nice just walking round in the sunshine. We thought we would try and keep going today and see how far we could get. There seems to be a pub every half a mile and in the end it got to us and we had to stop when we saw the lights of this really nice fifteenth century one, The Three Horseshoes. We quickly moored up and rushed in for a pie and a pint. The pub is just fantastic and had a really good atmosphere. We staggered back to Derwent6 and after the 15 locks today and full tummy's, we crashed out.
