Fireworks at Crick

We wanted to leave early this morning but we had to turn around at the end of the Welford Arm so Del did a manual pump out and ended up leaving at 8.00am.
We turned left at the Welford Junction and headed south.
The weather was just perfect, we had clear blue skies with a chill in the air. We cruised for four hours and made our way to Crick, stopping only once for some wood we spotted.
It was a bit shallow to get in but we managed to load it all on. We then got to Crick where we moored up.
Watford Locks are closed this week from 2.00pm as they are doing repairs on them, so we didn't take a chance to try and make it. After Del had chopped up the wood we found, we took the opportunity to go and see Paul and Lynne on n.b. Piston Broke and had a cup of tea with them to catch up with marina news. We then walked back to Derwent6 and noticed some pallets outside the garden centre, so we asked if we could have one. The answer was no but you can buy one for two pounds. They were selling tiny bags of kindling for 95p so it was a no brainer. Del carried it back to Derwent6 and broke it up when we arrived. In the evening we went to the Crick firework display, which took a bit of finding.
It was not the best display and a bit slow, but it was good to get out on bonfire night Ooooing and ahhhhing...After a nice hot soup we walked back to Derwent6.
